Flocculates Cause Suspended Solids to Precipitate
Flocculants are often used as a precursor to filtration and purification in order to remove suspended solids from water.
It is a step in the process of treating water to make it potable (safe to drink).
Flocculants molecularly attach themselves to the suspended contaminants in water causing them to precipitate to the bottom of the water container. The flocculants attach to the suspended substances which then adhere to each other forming what is called Floc, which then fall to the bottom of the container.
You can make an effective flocculant at home with common household items.
