There is an interesting approach developed in Africa for transporting large amounts of water from water bodies to the villages with minimal effort. The device that they have developed is called a Hippo Roller. The barrel is uprighted and the filler cap is opened enabling the barrel to be filled by either submerging it or pouring the water into the filler hole. Once the barrel is full, the cap is replaced, the barrel is placed on its side, the handle attached and the barrel is either pushed or pulled to the final destination.
Transporting Water is a Challenge
Transporting water from the natural source to the point of treatment and use can be one of the most challenging parts of your survival matrix.
Whether you are at your home in a grid down situation, on a homestead outside of the “City Water” supply network, hiking, camping, hunting, or in a full on Bug Out Scenario transporting water is cumbersome, time consuming, (sometimes) costly, and it can consume waning energy stores just to get a little water. If you plan ahead, stockpile the proper items, you can make increase your carry capacity and limit your energy expenditure
