Ignoring the previous paragraph's point is perilous. Unfortunately the desire to "rest calmly" overrides logical thought, so people buy guns, join a paramilitary group or "hook up" with ex-military types who have strong defense rhetoric, others immerse themselves in bushcrafting. These activities give them a sense of engagement and hence security.
The fact is no single skill set, tool, or group will guarantee your survival. You need a well balanced rounded set of skills and approach that will make you secure through practiced skills, quality gear, trusted community and above all well developed skills at mindset of self reliance.
