Having a generator is great but what if gasoline supplies are limited, the outage is long, and others want what you have?
•   Would it be better to live outside the population center?
•   Could I move to a place less likely to be in the direct line of threat from        reoccurring (whatever hurricane, flooding, tornados, etc.)?
•   Can I be more low profile?
•   Maybe this is the time to trade my low riding BMW for a Jeep or Range Rover?
•   Instead of an expensive vacation maybe we should be buying a camper and some land in the mountains?
•   Maybe we should visit and make nice with the family in the outlying safe areas so they can be your safe haven to escape disaster to?

Lessons Learned
The devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Hugo, Sandy and others should be a stark warning of the inherent failure in government dependence and a lack of personal responsibility and preparedness. Though I have experienced and handled numerous manmade and natural disasters here and abroad throughout my career, this experience has raised many points that I will study and apply to my planning and solutions.
 
As a survivalist and prepper there are many hard facts to be highlighted and lessons to be learned. Some thoughts outlined below:
