Parking lots are one of the most difficult tests of a drivers patience, vision, awareness and sheer luck each day. Accidents, pedestrian / motor vehicle accidents, muggings, rapes, carjackings and more all happen in parking lots every day. The holiday season, with its high volume of traffic, shortened day light hours and distracted nature of the pedestrians in the area increase the threat of an accident exponentially.
You might be surprised to know that many pedestrian / motor vehicle accidents are not accidents. Honestly one trip to the local WalMart superstore will amaze you at how people walk right behind you as you are already half way out of a parking spot backing up.
Being careful is just not enough, you need a strategy.
