Roadside Foliage Control Via Herbicidal Spraying
Every day the vegitation, plants, foliage are effected by things that you do not see. Some are invisible to the eye, others you just are not there when you are to see or don't notice.
If you are "living off of the land" or foraging for wild edibles then you need to be aware of those things that impact that which you eat and drink. Maintaining the highways and byways is a monumental task. It is also a mattter of dollars and cents; small budgets and hundreds of miles to control and maintain. Cutting and pruning requires man power, lots of manpower. Spraying chemicals requires few. It is easy, efficient and cost effective.
The problem is that the overspray, run off and capilary effect are all common issues that stem from the herbicidal treatments. There is a decent amount of research as well as every one of the chemical's MSDS on file with OSHA that indicate that they are hazardous to the health of wildlife and humans alike. You may never be able to totally erradicate your exposure to the chemicals but you can at least limit them.
